Stay safe from COVID-19 ✨

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that can be lethal and does not have a cure yet. This virus is mainly spread from person to person by:

  • People who are in close contact or closer than 6ft apart.
  • Respiratory droplets that are inhaled or that land in other people’s mouths and noses.
  • Talking to someone who is infected and the saliva lands on the other person’s mouth or nose.
  • People that are sick and are more likely to have low defenses.

This virus has very similar symptoms to flu or a cold:

  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Fever.
  • Cough.
  • Symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure.

How to avoid it?:

  • STAY HOME, and go outside only if it is necessary.
  • Wash your hands often and with soap for more than 25 seconds.
  • Use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Use face mask if you go out and avoid close contact with someone else.
  • When you get home take your mask and shoes off, wash your hands, change clothes, and if possible it is better to take a shower.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces various times a day.
  • Drink a lot of water.

Even though old adults are at high risk more than anyone else, that does not mean that younger adults and children are exempt from this deadly illness. Everyone should follow social distancing and practice what was previously mentiones in order to keep safe your loved ones.

Is important to clarify that some people DO NOT show symptoms at all but are able to pass the virus to someone else, and this is why is very important for everyone to stay home and practice social distancing. This will not only keep you safe but also everyone around you that may not be as healthy as you.

How to stay hydrated ✰

My last post was about planning your days in advance in order to have a better organization in your life and have a higher encouragement to meet your tasks and goals.

As human beings we develop activities more efficiently if we have been generating that task previously and repeatedly, so when we have to face a new activity we are forced to put an extra effort due to the inexperience. A similar situation happens when we add or modify something in our routine (like getting up at a different time or eating later than usual) because is like a new experience to our brain.

Creating a habit has the same impact due to the dedication we have to make in order to complete a task every day, but it does not mean that is impossible or not healthy for you. A great example is the importance to incorporate the habit of drinking water in your life, which you may have heard before is very good for your health but kind of difficult to make it a consecutive behavior. Here are some tips that might help you to keep this a habit and stay hydrated:

  • If it is difficult for you to drink water because you don’t like its “flavor” you can try to put a little bit of lemon juice. Remember that water is the better way to stay hydrated but it is not the only way
  • Drink water as soon as you get up; keeping a water bottle next to your bed will help you remember.
  • Eating fruit will keep you hydrated too (and it is healthy too) and it can be a really good part of your breakfast.
  • Drink water before you get thirsty, this means that the body is already with way less fluid than needed and the point is to prevent that.
  • Buy a water bottle and carry it with you at all times. Try to place it close to the door so you don’t forget it on your way out and avoid non-reusable plastic bottles (this is eco-friendly :))

A good way to keep track of your progress is to analyze the color of your urine, this means that the lighter the yellow is the better. Also try to avoid caffeine and sugars given that this affects your hydration process and the color of your urine too.

When life places stones in your path, be the water. A persistent drop of water will wear away even the hardest stone

Planning your day ♡

Being productive its not easy, but it is less difficult when you have a plan ahead of time because it allows you to have completely clear what you have to achieve during the day. Here are some tips and things you will need to start having a day full of time invested in your goals:

  • Use a planner*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ You can do one yourself or buy one. Having each activity where you can physically read it facilitates the achievement of every activity (using your phone is a good idea too.
  • Plan ahead of time *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ As mentioned before, it is easier to have a productive day when you know what you are doing with anticipation. You can try this by planning 2 or 3 days ahead or time or a full week.
  • Schedule*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ If possible, try to add an exact time for each activity you want to complete. This will give you full organization and it will be easier to fit all you want to do during the day.
  • Use colors*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Colors facilitate memorization and organization. Labeling each activity with categories might be a good choice too.
  • Put every activity in your planner *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Even the smallest activity should go in your calendar to create a habit and a better visualization of your day
  • There should always be time for you*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Giving yourself a day to enjoy is as important as any other activity + it is healthy too!
  • Use extra time wisely*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ If you have the energy and the time to add something productive to your calendar, do it! Using time wisely is an essential part for a healthy life
